Why? Threaded interfaces don't get much stronger the further you thread them in. I probably wouldnt want to run a roadie BB with a chain device, but I doubt you'd suffer any ill effects with a normal one.

Raceface Atlas is longer i believe. My mate used one when he stripped the thread in a shorter XT one.

deeper as in a longer reach or deeper actually threads???

Does that make sense?
Well I've had a Hope one fall out of my bike (literally it fell out) and it had extremely shallow threads.
Replaced with a STD shimano one after having the frame faced and BB threads run through with a tool.
