Want a turbo trainer that will work with my C456. (i think most will adjust to a MTB wheel).

Going to get one of those conti mtb turbo trainer tyres to keep it quiet..

Having borrowed a cheap (£50) amazon TT, I'd like something a bit nicer, without spending a fortune!

I'd think it would have to have good resistance as the 456 will be 1x10...

I'm assuming as long as I keep the chain clean when I'm using it it will not be terrible for drivetrain wear.. I'm going to use a spare rear wheel with its own casette on it. Cheap steel casette that wont wear out maybe?

Something that will work with trainerroad as I'm thinking of using that..

Get a rim drive trainer, then you don't need to worry about the tyre. Minoura do one

I'll be using it with a mavic 321 wheel so no braking surface for a rim drive...

plus I was hoping to spend less than £200...

Lookes to be between the following at the lower end of budget...

Minoura B60-R Trainer
Elite SuperCrono Power Mag ElastoGel Trainer (a bit dearer than the above, but on offer at CRC)
Tacx Blue Matic

any thaughts?

will they all have enough resistance for mtb 1x10 gearing?

I have the Tacx Blue Motion, which offers 950w max resistance vs 700w on the Blue Matic. With your setup, and my experience on the Blue Motion using 11x42 all the time, you'll need at least that or find yourself spinning out the max resistance without too much effort.

Good trainer though. Except for the handlebar lever which couldn't be fixed solidly to the bar, so I had to fix it to the stem instead.

I'm wanting to do intervals on it, so will need a fair chunck of resistance...

I am selling a Tacx turbo tyre in the classifieds. Used twice.
