The GF wants a back protector for days in the bike park (Italy opens up next week!) where the backpack isn't necessary.
Decathlon has a range of back protectors in their snowboard range, but they don't look that different from my Bluegrass vest or Evoc offerings.... Well, except the price...!

Anyone had the same idea and acted upon it?

Not really, but I had one of their hydration packs with a back protector
was a bit heavier but really well made and sturdy, never got to test it in a crash as it was nicked a few months after I got it!
