We're looking at a weekend away next month to visit relatives and Dartmoor's right on the doorstep.

So anyone fancy showing us round some of your local stuff?

*trailmonkey and his crew to the forum please* 😉

You'd have to ask the person that might want to be good enough to show us round. 😀

I'd be good enough to show you around.. and more than happy to..

but I've got a poorly knee.. and I've also got a new baby arriving in the next day or two..
I could show you around the local woods for an hour.. but that would be rather boring and you would end up hating me for it..

someone will be along shortly to provide a solution no doubt.. 🙂

That's very good of you yunki.
Maybe we could fit a short ride round your local woods in aswell as a longer ride with Woody or anyone else willing to help out. 🙂

Oh god no.. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enema.. but if you do manage to winkle Woody out of hibernation I'll tag along at the back for an hour before disappearing back into the undergrowth..

When are you down & where abouts on Dartmoor do you want to ride?

I live in Kernow but ride the W.Dartmoor trails Princetown/Burrator etc fairly often & maybe free to guide if needed.

Obviously E.Dartmoor is Trailmonkey's territory & has the more techy trails in & around Lustleigh to show you.

oooohh starting to look good.

We've not booked a date yet so it could be anytime next month.
When are you free?

It'd be good to do east one day and west the other.

This will also have the added advantage of having less time to spend on the visiting side of the trip. 😀

Stu - drop me an email (addy in profile) & we can go from there.

I don't mind guiding or I can send GPX routes instead.

I can't do the wkend 24/25th March 🙁

ping back up here when you're coming down and we'll sort something out. Woody is in hibernation at the mo, as Yunki suggests, but may be tempted out if the weather holds for a while. if not we have a few other mates who are around and will be happy to guide.
if you want to do haldon we can do that too, for sure, as we know that hill pretty well...
just let us know when you're about and you'll not be short of riding. 😀

Cheers guys.

We'll sort something out when i've not just come back from the pub. 😉

Though Mrsssstu has just said that it's a weak excuse from Woody as she's busy studying for her masters and can find time to come down to his neck of the woods. 🙄 😉

I'd be up for this aswell. Sure we can dig Woody out of his hole for the Dartmoor stuff.

Happy to guide around the cheeky stuff at Haldon if you choose to do that. The fairies have been busy today...

Relatively new to the area and still finding my way round but would definitely be up for a ride depending on family commitments etc... that is of course provided that no-one's going to take exception to the lack of boingy bits at either end of my particularly sturdy bicycle.

Up there today about 11am as weather looks o.k. for once.

March is the start of summer down here these days so there'll be plenty of good stuff to be done and we'll be in residence.

Del/Cleetus,
Where were you digging for lucky charms? Was up there with Anne, sent her down the old Rat run 🙂

Right then.
We're heading down to you guys for the 17th/18th.
I've had various email conversations with a few of you but it's all getting a bit complicated. 😉 (for me anyway)

We'd like to ride east dartmoor on the 17th and haldon on the 18th if that's possible please?
Woodys said he may or may not be able to help us on the saturday. If he can't can anyone else?

Burchy.
If you can sort us out for haldon on the 18th that would be fantastic.

There will be cake involved for payment if that's Ok with you guys? 😀

Shinything.

I know where your second picture was taken. I parked up there the other day while i was taking a break inbetween visiting customers.
It does look like the area has a hell of a lot to offer. 8)

Right, for those that are interested the Sunday Haldon part of ssstu's Devon adventure will start from the Gissons hotel (EX6 7UD) just off the A38/A380 junction.

10:30 start at the pub and 11 at the hub on the top for those too lazy to ride up.

Del - just thread Surfing if you are still looking at this - but I wanted to say thanks for showing Kelly and I around Haldon in July.

My very random over the bar (in which I thought I had just winded myself) turned into a trip to Casualty. I had actaully forced my sternum inwards sufficiently to give my self some nasty internal brusing - was given loads of drugs - and had to have 10 days off work -and no cycling for three months!

That aside a fun time!

Cheers

G
