They are bikes for the road, they are called road bikes.
Agree though, anyone who calls it the 'darkside' is instantly branded a penis in my mind and I won't take anything they say seriously ever again.
To balance things out though, I think the same of anyone who uses more than one of any punctuation mark.

Well you could argue it either way really TBH. To my mind though a shopper could be called a road bike and it's clearly not the same type of bike as a road racing bike.
Anyway, I'm off to do some darkside riding...!!!!!!
I have a couple of bikes which are clearly for use on the road, but are obviously not in any sense for racing. They have useful things, like puncture resistant tyres, and mudguards which slow them down. They are "road bikes". Or possibly "country bikes" following Grant Petersen's nomenclature.
