Why do you need a winter set of wheels if you've got disc brakes?

winter = not flash. Sorry, i've never bought road wheels before and the reviews i've been reading seem to divide over winter and summer wheelsets.

Hunt all the way. Got a pair of 4 seasons that look like they should last a good while and allow bigger volume tyres for comfort and grip.

My 4S disc has bontrager affinity comp wheels, and I have no issues with them.
If I'd known about Hunt wheels, when I built the bike, I'd have probably gone for those, as they are local to me, but so well hidden, I'd ridden past them lots of times without realising.

Using rim brakes in the winter leads to far greater rim wear, hence many use cheaper wheels in the winter to not wear out their expensive wheels.

I really can't see how it can be needed if using disks!?

Just ordered some H PLus Son Hydras with novatec hubs, coming in at under £400. With D light spokes come in at ~1650g so on a par with the Hunts.
