Anyone know anything about the XC race allegedly taking place this Sunday? Like what's closed, what's not etc?

Cheers!

On the weekend of the 16th-17th all of the trails North of Dixons Hollow will be closed. The Red Route will be open from post 1-13 then diverted across to post 26, then open all the way back to Low Dalby. The blue cycle route will be open with teh usual harvesting diversion in place.

This is one of the reasons mountain bike racing isn't more well known. There is a national level race, with several Olympians and a load of foreign riders travelling over, and 3 days before those in the community aren't sure if it's happening!

I remember talking to someone in Pickering when we raced there before, they had no clue there was a pretty big sporting event going on 5 miles away. Strange.

Anyway, you got your answer, but we ought to market races (XC, DH, the lot!) better I reckon!

I totally agree actually, I only actually knew there was something on from the article about the stolen Kinesis on the front page, and googling wasn't especially fruitful - there's not even anything on the Forestry Commission site, that I can see.

That said, I probably won't be there spectating - I'd sooner go ride my bike! - but I'm sure that it won't be as busy as it maybe could be.

I agree - it's madness that MTB XC racing / events are not advertised well.

Have a look here for info:
