Looking for something mainly for the commute, but beefy enough to withstand light trails and the pothole ridden suburbs of East London.
Interest in the Cinelli zydeco 2014 in particular. Anyone had a ride of one of these? Thoughts?
Any other recommendations also welcome!
Cheers
I'm contemplating something similar, but my mind is awash with conflicting ideas:
Norco Threshold A1
Cannodale CAADX disc
Canondale SL 29 SS
Giant TCX SLR2
DIY job - an MTB HT with rigid carbon forks
Kinesis of some description
MTFU and get a Planet X Road bike
Had a Trek Crossrip, was most excellent and very cheap.
im about to do the same, roads are terrible round here but there are lots of gravelly cyclepaths so figured a full road bike would be too uncomfortable, and might well break.
although having bought all the parts to build up a disc specific frame and fork combo i got off here, i have now had the idea of wrapping them all up and giving them to myself for christmas = unwrapping and building a bike on christmas morning just like grown up lego.
i ****ing hate christmas so figure this might make it a bit more palatable
Yay.
I have the kinesis crosslite. It's ace. Perfect for all (Sarf East) duties.
Although for East london ,don't you want a fixie t**tmobile? ๐
I love road bikes and used to have an Allez but never really got on with it.
Eventually got a Croix de Fer frame and built it up with mountain bike 29er rims and disc brakes stripped off my Surly Karate Monkey.
The Croix de Fer is an absolute hoot. It's solid, comfortable, very comfortable compared to the Allez, and it bombs along nicely.
I'm not going to get wrapped up about the weight of the bike, it's not very light, as it's there mainly for fitness and a lighter bike means Ill just have to go faster further for longer to get the same results, in my mind anyway.
I have no worries going up or down kerbs, through potholes or off road onto trails on the thing.
I stuck an Alfine on it and Verso shifters.
