Plotting a jolly in Feb to tackle the old seasonal affective disorder. Has anyone been road riding in the canaries? Any recomendations in terms of companies, villas, rides, hire shops plus anything/anywhere to avoid.

Any info would help.

Thank you!

Matt

been to Gran Canaria and Fuerta Ventura, the former with Road the later MTB, they are both better with Road bikes IMO.

I took my own bike on a package holiday and just explored. Thomas cook charged something like £20 for the bike. although i did have an issue with one of the transfer coaches, which was solved with €30.

found the drivers to be more far more curtious than in the UK, and considering how they treated each other the amount of room i got as a cyclist was shocking, i was actually expecting to witness a head on because the cars were pulling so far into the other lane.

I've done both road and mtb with http://www.free-motion.net/en on their rental Cannondales.
I'd go with them again, next time I go to Gran Canaria.

I went to Fuerteventura with the road bike a couple of years ago for a week.
I took my own bike and relied on local bike shops for spares and repairs, which I didn't need. This I thought quite strange.
The riding was good, not excellent, and I found the drivers very courteous and accommodating (better than the UK).
Gran Canaria or Tenerife are likely to be my next biking spots, which island are you off to as they are all a bit different?
