Looking for a bike i can cycle to work on, the company where i work has got a deal with a bike shop in our town so i'm restricted to them.

Plans are to ride to work (5 miles each way on the canal), then take it over some woods on weekends, and maybe the odd forest in future.

Got up to £1000 to spend, has to be a 15 or 16".

Seen these two so far, any thoughts?

The second one is over 1000 but they said they will do me a deal.
That is there website

Thanks in advance

Is it just a commuter or do you want a Mountain Bike you can ride to work?

If it's the latter how about this

The Ridgeback is 140mm travel an appears to be position as a "Hardcore Hardtail" The Core is more of a lightweight trail bike with 120mm suspension. Which one is closest to your normal style of riding?

Mountain bike suitable for a bit of off roading, that i can also use for work.

Would they be suitable for off roading?

Of the two the Genissis is the most suitable but I'm sure the one I suggested would be ok for light of roading.
