[#11043976]

We have C2W available again this year, so I'm going to consolidate my 2 bikes into a new hardtail. Must be....

29er
Not outrageously expensive, (theoretical £1k limit, but I'm assuming that a LBS will let me top up a bit)
Dropper post
Available via a Halfords voucher.

So far my list goes, (in order of preference)

Whyte 629
Orbea Laufey H10
Nukeproof Scout 290, (availability issues in medium)
Orange Clockwork Evo Comp, (doesn't look good VFM, no dropper)
Saracen Zenith LSL, (too expensive)
Pinnacle Ramin X, (not Halfords compatible)

Is there anything else I should be considering?

no dropper but you could just get that on the top up

Also with the Halfords scheme you can order bits for free up to 10% of the voucher value if you buy direct from Halfords.

Bizango Carbon is worth a look too.

Boardman is probably the better package out of the box - Reba fork for one. If you're willing to spend some of the extra on a lighter fork for the Bizango though it'll be lighter.

Halfords won’t allow you to top up the initial voucher anymore. I was going to get a Giant Revolt at £1149 so only a smidge away from the golden ticket of £1000 but after going to cycle republic and calling Tredz they apologised that the top up isn’t available.

Still a few other stores to try but looks like those days are over and ours is capped at £1k.

If you find somewhere that does allow it and delivers, let me know, I’ve not found one yet.

Thanks Gents.
That's bad news LMT, will have to investigate that before I commit. 🤔
