never stayed there before, where is the nearest camping/van site? is there a better one less close? and which is closest to a good pub?
smaller and more basic the better, not into big fancy sites
You can guess what im up to this weekend ๐Ÿ˜€

There is a small campsite just a few hundred yards further on past the visitor center & numerous pubs about ten minutes walk in Cwm carn, Crosskeys & Risca.

The only thing that spoils that site is the boy racers that blat their fiesta's and corsa's up the hill 'til three in the morning. Otherwise the site is fine if you don't mind the no sleep bit.

No more boy racers thanks to new barriers being installed just past the visitor centre and before the entrance to the camp site. I'd take a blwdy big lock though.
ETA - due to the new barriers you'll have to book in before the centre shuts. You have to get a key from the centre for the shower/toilet block too.

Hopefully the barrier makes a big difference, it was a few years back that i stayed there but a big lock would probably still be valid.

I stayed there earlier this summer, one of the better camp sites I've been to. Do take locks, even the security said they've had a couple of 'issues' in the past.
We had no problems with noise or thefts, we went to the pub at the bottom of the road to the visitors centre I think it was called the Castle, only a 10 min walk. Friendly local pub who let us order and eat take-aways, no frills but had half decent beer and a monster telly to watch the world cup on!
