Pondering whether to just let my LBS fit the forks/headsdset on my new frame as the have carbon tapered steerers and I dont want to arse it up. I dont have a crown race tool, and I also dont have a fine grade hacksaw. But do have a park tool regular hacksaw (probably blunt) and an x tools saw guide from fitting my alloy steer forks. So better to fork out £20 and let them do it, or [s]bodge[/s] tap the crown race on with a bit of wood, buy a fine hacksaw blade and attempt it myself?

Also is carbon dust bad for you, best to do outside with a mask/goggles?

Yes, you really don't want to breathe it in, cut your innards to bits.

Carbon dust bad. Blunt blade good.

Bit of electrical tape on the steerer to curb the dust a bit and have at it.

Did it the other day, piece of cake.

Use a hoseclip as a guide, clamp in vice (lightly!) and saw with hacksaw, I used a new 24tpi blade and it was fine.
