Did anyone ride Cutgate last weekend? How is it at the moment? I've only ridden it twice when it was fairly dry in the summer.

Am looking at incorporating it towards the end of a day-long (75mile) loop from Sheffield on Thursday. Good idea or not?

Hi Simon, Can't help you with the conditions but i've been after a bit of advice on the Cutgate route myself? I'v eheard good things about it but have only found an out and back route which i'm not sure i like the sound of, or am i wrong here? Is it worth doing out and back?? Ususally do the Ladybower/Hope route but wanted a change??

Cheers

can't help with current conditions although i suspect the peat sections are still a bit boggy, but for an out and back route it rides very different both ways. If you want to extend it do Derwent edge and/or the other side of Ladybower and Derwent reservoirs

Looks like a good route Simon, unfortunately i'm only allowed to take 4 weeks holiday a year.

4 weeks - that's 20 rides then, almost one a fortnight!!!

I've got loads of time owed thanks to night working the past fortnight on top on my regular days ๐Ÿ˜‰

Its a brilliant out and back.

Theres another way around this bit

When heading southwards, take the most westerley of the two b.ways. On the way back heading north (I've always done it from the langsett end) take the eastertly most bridleway when it splits.

I tried it once in january, and turned back somewhere near the summit due to the bogginess. Still really enjoyed it though. Only managed it fully in july other times though

Yeah we've got another route in mind, but it looks like staying dry the next few days so we could risk it - but we'll be tired by then.

There are some fine ways of linking up some damn good routes back home....
Shame they involve cheekyness...
