Hi, thinking of having a day in the peaks at easter and fancy doing Cut Gate, has anyone got any routes GPX/Memorymap I can have a look at. Never ridden in the area so have no idea where else to head or which direction to do a loop.

Start from the langsett end on the woodhead pass. Go over the dam take the first bridleway on the right and then head up north america if it's dry. Head over to the ladybower end stopping at the ford/bridge. Turn around and go back the way you came. I tend to go straight on the bottom on the main track then ride back up and go down north america as well.
Cheers Steve, anyone else mail any routes to rickyinmickyATyahoo.co.uk
For me, start at Fairholmes and take the right side of the dam, good chance to catch with mates till you get to the bridge on the right, don't cross it but carry straight on to the ford/wooden footbridge, cross it and bear right. Follow the obvious path up and continue till you reach a split/fork. Right for South America, follow it down to a track and turn right then keep following till you hit tarmac, bear left then at the main road turn left. Nice brew and buttie in the cafe. Return run is through the wood, up the steep cobbles and just follow your nose back.
Unusually it is best as an out and back route from Langsett to Slippery Stones with the only variations being whether to come up or down via North America, and whether you do a lap of the Derwent reservoirs to turn it into a full day out. As the other bloke says ride up and down both N. America and the 'straight' way down unless you're knackered or bust your bike as both are fun descents with not much between them (normal way is faster, N America more little jumps and lively line choices).
None of this will require a GPS. If you can't see 20 metres you still can't get lost on this route (standard disclaimers about hill sense and levels of stupidity apply).
It never gets boring to ride cut gate as a there and back. I usually prefer to start at Langsett, though not sure why. If you want to extend it then it's easy enough to convert it to a lollipop route with one of the ladybower loops at the far end.
Including it as part of a proper loop is not straight forward and is likely to include a long stretch of on road on the busy snake pass followed by a descent of Doctors gate, which is challenging, but not that enjoyable IMO. Better to ride cut gate both ways I reckon
cut gate? easter?
you'll need a boat.

Ditto this.
I'd wait until it's had a chance to dry out properly...
