[#11972603]

Looking to get a small custom bag made up to fit in the headtube/toptube/downtube space on my hardtail.

Any recommendations?

Alpkit do their full frame Stingray bags, I've got one, it's good.

If you wanted something custom / smaller they might do something cheaper for you ( I think the base model is £80).

I've used Straightcut Design ( https://www.straightcutdesign.com) multiple times for custom and off the shelf bags and they've all been superb. Had a full custom framebag and matching toptube bag for my Pipedream and a half frame bag for my Pugsley. Lots of custom fabrics and options too. Highly recommended.

Plus Ross is a properly nice bloke which helps as well.

^ Buggy Bags are good, I have a full frame bag from them. Heavier fabric, seems durable and well made. I can recommend Alpkit's custom bags too.
For the type / size OP describes I got a Wildcat custom bag for my most used / 'best' bike. Quality is as good as anything else I've seen and it's good vfm.

I have an alpkit stingray framebag, I’d happily buy another.

The next custom ordering window opens 1st Aug it says. He's a limited production business so tries keep it to a 6-8 week lead time by restricting ordering windows.

Wee Cog Cage is good. They have a STW members discount. It's quite a sturdy material for a small bag, so you might not actually need all 3 straps to hold it in place, however that same material does mean the internal seams are quite chunky and there isn't much give to open the opening the smaller you go.

Ended up going with a Wee Cog. Wish I knew that before ordering!

However, have just done the template it'll be interesting if they can stitch the first few inches as it's going to be tight near the headtube......
