my eldest daughter was working there on the Blacks stand, apparently she was having fun watching all the fit young men cycle past, so she texted her mother !

nor me, her mother just tutted as I walked in sweating like a pig 😉
I went to that with my dad, the year Grifters came out - couldn't get a go on the test "circuit" as queues were massive, so I stayed a roadbike kid. Was another 10-15 yr before I got a mtb 🙁
thats probably the last time I went, I remember it being full of old men with beards, I'd fit right in now 🙂
Went for a look round yesterday for an hour or so after finishing the 150k ron kitching sportive. Good show, got a bargain castelli bib shorts for £25.
Must say what a great route and how well signed marked the sportive was. But how tough a climb was blakely bank and the chimney, was expecting some tough climbs but blakely was brutal and the wind did not help much either. Made it up but by god did it hurt. Living in north wales im used to steep climbs but those two big climbs were relentless and just carried on going on the same pitch for what seemed forever. Great weekend away and i think i will be back next yr for more pain 😀
Route was excellent but the wind across the top left me feeling proper spooked. Not the most confident on road descents at the best of times.
Blakey Bank was indeed brutal and Rosedale Chimney has to be seen to be believed. I thought what I was riding was on the very limit of possibility in terms of gradient, then turned a bend to be confronted by what appeared at first to be a wall of tarmac.
And saw some red grouse which ticked an empty box for my twitching habit.
Glad it was on the Saturday rather than the 30 degree Sunday heat!
Yes, started off a bit damp 1st thing in the morning but was still warm but it brightend up within a few hours just nice but it did get warm sat afternoon. Shame about the wind, But glad like you said it was Sat as opposed to the sunday extra hot day.
Saying that her in-doors had me painting and decorating on the sunday. so regrdless of how hot it was it would have been better than that 😀
