My mates did the recent enduro and said it was good, but very steep and rooty. I don't think there is much developed there so finding it without local knowledge could prove frustrating

Agree. Even if you find the start of the enduro tracks from Strava gpx it may not b e that obvious where they go. You could do with a guide. I'll be at the Dyfi otherwise I would offer to show you. I wouldn't do them when wet unless you're a seriously good rider.

There is some great riding there. It is the venue for the 2016 British MTB Marathon champs.

The Real Ale Wobble touched upon it too for a couple of years.

From the 'A Cycling' FB page.
Very happy to announce that we will be hosting the 2016 British MTB Marathon Championships.

Incorporated into a new, one off event The Wild Welsh it will be based in Llandovery on Sunday August 28th.

2 event options will be available, an open event open to all and a championship event for British Cycling racing license holders.

The course will be in Crychan forest and we are aiming for a 40 kilometre loop. The championship event will be held over 2 laps, while the open event will have the option of 1 or 2 laps. A closure of rights of ways will be in place to allow for times racing within the forest.

Full details will be available online soon with online entry.

There's another round of the UK enduro there in a month's time. I hear it's going to be even more technical so should be good. Techie Sunday will be proper mental unless Neil chickens out, he's planning to include stuff he daren't put in the enduros, including the quarry cliff plummet from Hell. The marathon should be good too, I've done plenty of red kite xc rides there, there's fun stuff there as well as scary stuff. But make sure you have a gpx as there's a hell of a lot of boring fireroad there too if you end up going round in circles!!
