What disk brake and levers are people using on singlespeed cross bikes?

IS Mount

Rotor needs to fit a 6 bolt hub.

Recommendations please

I've got Road BB7's on my Major Jake with Dura Ace levers and had Tektro levers with Quad QMD-5 Cable Disc Brake Calipers on a Cotic Roadrat.

Just make sure that you get levers that match the calipers. Some of the single speed levers work with MTB brakes and some work with road bike versions

Coincidentally I have a set of levers and calipers (Tektro levers with Quad QMD-5 Cable Disc Brake Calipers £35 posted but no discs)

If you want drop bars and levers then they need to be cable disks, which means Avid BB5 and BB7, not sure there are any other on the market.

EDIT - Tektro, yes of course

Shimano make road disc brakes. They're ok (not having tried any other road disc brakes).
Probably on a par with the original Magura Louise brakes from 98.

I've just got some Tektro Lyra cable discs that work with normal drop levers.

Just not fitted them yet

Avid BB5 and BB7.

And the most beautiful levers in the world.

The Lyra is a good brake, if you get Avid just make sure you get the road ones as the mtb wont work properly with ur levers.

So I am assuming the avid BB5/7 road brake is designed to run with a standard road lever?

As I am currently running v brakes and therefore running V brake compatible brake levers - will the standard bb5/7 work with these??

Shouldn't be a problem if you are set up for V already

If you are running v brakes then you will need MTB calipers. Road ones will not work as the cable pull is different

Careful...Are you running standard v's or mini v's?

Mini v's work with normal road levers. If you are running standard v's you should be OK with MTB calipers.

I'm running hope e4 brakes front and rear with 105 sti via hope remote reservoirs. Would be great if they'd rerelease those.

I have V on the back and avid mechanical disk on the front... Same levers with a rear brake travel device on the V's. Was such an improvement on the crap normal road brakes. I can happily take it most places a mountain bike can go, not trail centre but natural stuff.
