Superstar Switch rear hub with ZTR Crest Rims.

I’ve a the SuperStar/Crest wheelset for well over a year without any issues but recently the rear developed a little play so I replaced both cartridge bearings that the axle runs on.

However since the bearing replacement I get a creaking/pinging noise from the hub under power but less so when powering out of the saddle.
After the first ride I thought I’d over tightened the axle so stripped it again, put plenty of grease on all the spacers axles etc but still the creak continues.

Any ideas to solve this? All I can think of is to knock out the bearings & grease the mating faces of the hub body prior to re installing the bearings.

You sure is not a loose spoke?

Sounds to me like you have slightly squashed the ball bearing cage under the seal when installing the bearing. I did this, drove me nuts.

I would also grease the bearing seat as well.

I'll check both - how did you resolve the squashed bearing cage?
