Assembly compound ? Had to pop a fixed post on (Thomson) while reverb away under warranty, coinciding with first fitting of a new saddle (spesh) and lots of sharp creaks on bumpy stuff while bolts tight. I assembled it dry, so whats best for quietness - grease the rails or assembly compound/carbon paste ?
Post itself has liberal assembly compound in steel frame (soul)
Thanks
in my experience more likely to be the saddle clamp bolts creaking not the rail/clamp interface. Remove, clean, tiny dab of grease of copperslip works for me.
Copper grease on rail clamp bolts.
copperslip, yeah, thats spot on idea, thanks, will do that tonight, cheers
check for high spots in the grooves where the rails sit. they will show up as bright bits. a quick pass with a round file will ease them off.
in my experience more likely to be the [s]saddle clamp bolts[/s] frame starting to break
Bolts I find often are creaking. Had one snap mid ride after a lot of creaking.
Other bit is where the seat rails go into the seat, and the seat itself.
