Had a creaking noise which resulted in bb replacement, however the creaking reappeared on 3rd ride out after replacement! Noise only happens while pedaling. No difference when pedaling out of the saddle or without hands on the bars.
I have tried:
Removing the cranks and cleaned and regreased them.
Removed the pedals. Cleaned everything, re-greased and torqued to spec. I also tried different pedals.
Took seat post out and cleaned amd regreased and checked saddle.
Checked the stem and handlebars although sound isnt coming from there and the sound only happens when Im pedalling on saddle or off saddle even on flats and sometimes downhills.
Doing my head in and unsure if im gonna have to pay for a strip down and rebuild service or ak i missing something.
My cheap 2nd hand bike on turbo makes less noise lol
Chainring bolts/interface?
XD cassette interface with freehub? I had a horrible case of this with a Hope Pro 2 Evo - clean it up and within a week it would be back. If I splashed water on the back of the cassette mid-ride it would go away... until it dried off and then it was back!
... my hardest to trace noise turned out to be caused by a crack in one of the rotor bolt holes on a rear wheel!
I’ve had creaks coming from the rear hub that sounded like the BB. If you can try another wheel it could be an easy thing to rule out.
A slightly loose chain ring bolt was the cause of my last creak (always at the same point in the pedal stroke), torquing it 1Nm less than Shimano's recommendation resulted in a sheered bolt and more drama than the fix should have been.
I had a similar creak - happened on or off the saddle, with hands on or off the bars. Turned out the be the headset needed a clean and regreased.
You don't mention what kind of bike it is, but I've also have shock bushings that have clicked and creaked.
Had a similar sounding creak three times. Once was a cracked frame near the BB, once was a cracked rear hub body. The third was the saddle rails (yes, despite it happening both stood and sat).
So it could be either very cheap or very expensive...

Its a kona big honzo.
Will be booking it into bike shop as know the mechanic and he thinks it could be crack in frame near bb. Only 3 years old and not much use
