2 days on the run my bottom bracket has been creaking after setting off for about 10 mins
it's then ok for the rest of the journey
is it broken/about to break ?

Press fit bottom bracket per chance? The creaking is often a sign of wear but if there's no play or movement they can creak as 'normal'.

my last creaking bb turned out to be a seized bearing in the main pivot
the one before that was a worn chainstay bushing...
