Well that all clearly fell flat on its arse, I’ll get my menhir.

No, it was very good. Too good for most on here, including me.

"Pearls before swine" as Ceopatra's taster said.

Sorry, Goscinny didn't give him a name.

Yeah... see I was kinda praying that it wouldn't turn up on time, just for the LOLs you know. This thread's gonna die a dull death if the bike gets built up as planned in time for the holiday.

So, is that tracking number live yet?

This party isn't over until the frame is delivered, bike is fully built, working and in use on holiday. Plenty of mileage left in it yet

If that happens I suspect we have three pages of gloating by the OP to look forward to.

Blimey, four pages! But this-

“A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine”

pretty much.

Plus discussion of tyre logo - valve alignment, colour coordination of bike and components, cable routing, and state of lawn/garden/living room etc.

Congratulation OP for getting a frame dispatched well within the delivery timeline yet still ranting about it.

I on the other hand ordered a full bike on 05/04 in the hope of receiving it before Easter but it hasn't arrived yet even though it said 'Lead time: Available for Dispatch in 7 days'.

Finally found out what was happening today, via a polite phone call to the customer services department of the company I'm buying from (not CRC/Wiggle).

Turns out it's still in the middle of the Atlantic on it's way to the docks and I can expect delivery w/c 06/05.

Fair enough, I can wait - have another bike I can ride in the meantime.

Don't see the point in ranting and going off on one before the predicted delivery date though.

Is it wrong that I’m living in hope that the OP has the wrong crown race or something?

The CEO is my neighbour. I'd go for customer service first.

You're a terrible person 😆

Sweepstake? Who had #3 - 'no rear hub adapters to fit the frame'?

I’m going for:

Parcel Force damage frame.

Or

Frame arrives without the mech hanger

Yep something brake mount related.
I've just fitted some old brakes to a new frame and was convinced I had everything to fit, nope! Needed a longer bolt for the front adaptor. Luckily there's plenty here at work so I didn't need to trouble STW for the personal email address of the CEO of SRAM 😉

New keyboard required here too.

OP - seriously, I know what it is like when there's a cock-up and you know full well that the only person to blame is yourself - honestly, nothing makes me angrier.

But on the flipside, thanks so much for sharing - as the needle on your rage-o-meter has gone up, so has the amusement value - very much in the Basil Fawlty manner.

Have a bit of a word with yourself if you want to prevent stuff like this happening in the future. Not leaving everything to the last minute and doing a bit of planning is 'dull' but it sure makes life easier.

FWIW I'm going with frame lacquer on the BB threads which, in a rage, the OP will mangle trying to install the BB in a rush at about 2-30am in the morning...........

Or the fantastic one where I transplanted kit from one bike to another reusing all the cables, gears fine in the stand but on a tight turn of the bars on one direction it changed down 2 gears 🙂

Based on my own recent experience I'm going for either :
- Wrong size hub or wrong hub adapters (had this)
- Theoretically fine headset but one that doesn't actually fit without noticeable play when it's installed.

I'm going for missing barb and olive. Cables therefore catching on the undergrowth as he goes for first ride.

Ooh I've had this too, where a frame manufacturers tolerances aren't quite as tightly controlled as the headset manufacturers...

Do you mean Asterix?

No. Asterix doesn’t sound anything like bollix.

Well that all clearly fell flat on its arse, I’ll get my menhir.

LOL! I got it, honest! Just used it as an excuse to make a feeble funny about Asterixes/Asterii. Got to admit I don't get the menhir reference though.

My bet* is on something unnoticed when building up, but catastrophic on holiday day 1... a carelessly positioned limit screw which causes the chain to jump off and gouge the stay perhaps... or a sticker covering a crack on a poorly QC'd frame which snaps on the first drop-off...

* when I say bet, I mean hope

Can’t wait for tomorrow on this thread.

Will all the toys be neatly back in their pram or will it be full hissy fit?

Great stuff!
