Hello, I'm thinking of upgrading to some XT cranks. Is it wise to replace cassette and chain also? Cassette only has a 100 miles or so and the chain is about the same.

No, it'll be fine. Unless that 100m has been very mucky indeed.

well if you look at the price of teh new cassette and chain.... I think that will make your decision - don't change everything at onece in my view - see if anything jumps etc then change it - I doubt you need to change anything!

solman I think mcboo is reffering to buying just the XT rings, they are a stupid price on their own, there was a thread about it the other day something like £120 just to buy the rings and you can buy the whole chainset for that kind of price. thread below.

what tinsy said

I'm a Middleburn man, started using these guys

http://www.rjcx-treme.co.uk/index.html

take 10% off the price at checkout, way cheaper than chainreaction.

.....but dont replace the ones you have unless they are shot.

mcboo he is buying a new chainset not just rings, that makes it a whole different matter.

But yeah RJX-treme is a good shop.

ah, then the whole crankset is the way ahead, think Merlin pretty good on them. XT Hollowtech II is a good system and a doddle to use. Forget I opened my gob.
