Just bought myself an old raleigh road bike to build up as a fixie/singlespeed (havent decided yet) It came with 27 inch wheels on it, can 700c wheels be used? i would guess it would cause problems with brakes? Im sure one of you lot will know the answer.

Yep, there should be enough adjustment in the brakes to be able to do it. You realise you can get a reasonable selection of 27" tyres though, if that's the factor?
Ah cool, thanks. That was kind of a factor but the wheels are pretty ****ed so just wanted to know if i had more options for finding bargains!
700c will work, you might need deep drop brakes depending on the frame though.
i have some unused road 27" tyres you can have for postage if you change you mind
