I'm up in this area this weekend for a weekend with friends. Contemplating taking a bike up. Is there anything worthwhile riding in the area. Can't see anything obvious on google maps in which case I would take the road bike.

Thanks in advance.

Bedgebury (trail centre) is just down the road. Not far to some North Downs action either--other side of Maidstone, around the Blue Bell Hill area. If you like jumps/4x/short, techy DH try PORC (Google for info), again not too far. Plenty about really.. 😉

Bedgebury looks awesome, didn't think the woods was that big initially as a friend owns a wood in Goudhurst which is quite large on map but not in real life. Is it all waymarked?

Pretty much is yeah, trails aren't blow you away amazing as it's relatively flat, but are good for a few laps! Best to go early if it's nice, it can get quite busy if you go later on.

It'll be an early rise anyway as there will be drinking to be done during the day time!

Yeah, the car park is super expensive but it is free to ride once you're there... just don't go into Quench cycles (bike shop at Bedgebury) and ask for some change for the parking machine... they don't like it.

You can park in the layby on the A21 near Mick Gould's recovery place and ride into the forest from there.

Look for Park Lane off Hawkhurst Road...... I believe from a previous visit there is parking down there and you are right by the trail mid-way round. Though have not been in a few years. Can anyone confirm this?

Just to say a big thanks for the suggestion. Not quite two miles from the house, the lane from the lodge is a mile in itself. Did a couple of loops of the red trail and although nothing major was quite fun given that it was pretty dry and fast I can't really complain. The hills back from the centre up to Gouhurst is a bit of a killer having just done 24miles and getting a text that breakfasts on the table!
