i have a giant 2002 frame, which is in pretty good nick and black.
however the logos are painted on, but are garish red and yellow, and really dont go with the rest of the kit.
anyone suggest anything to cover them up? is there a type of tape thats pretty wide and black, or are there any decals that might cover them up?
they are about 6" long and go all around the down tube.
anyone done anything similar, without resorting to a respray?
I used some black reflective tape to cover up some garish logos on a seatpost, so that would work. You can buy sheets of it which you could cut to size.
If you want to go the whole hog, I've seen complete bikes wrapped in black insulating tape and a rather neat completely wrapped in camo tape.
Mud?
Wallpaper.
Woodchip pref. Then cover it with sticky backed plastic a la Blue Peter.
Or, as TJ implies; just ride the thing and stop being a blouse!
You can get carbon fibre lookalike sticky backed plastic
right picture coming up then you'll be sorry!
not that bad
surely covering them up would look worse
The really offensive things are the SPD pedals and the riser stem!
Have a word!
Edit; and the seatpost looks gash too!
There are much more garish road bikes IMHO.
I quite like that paint job.
More like the OP is being a bit of a ponce ๐
Ditto crikey. I think the paint job looks fast.
right thats it!!!!!!
* minces off to listen to daniel merryweather in his ford ka whilst crying at the beauty of the sunset.
Tim, my nrs looks just like your bike but even more garish. (that daft motorsport-esque sponsors list ionthe top tube too) I loves it!
Back on topic though, a friend spent ages with electrical tape and a scalpel masking the outside of the bright yellow merlin logo on his malt 2. He then did some wierd mottled paint thing to the logo itself so make it readable but less garish. Came out really well considering he's never done anything like that before.
what size frame is that, just out of interest?
a small
