[#3009906]

trying to put my cove g spot frame back together with new bearings. I did not strip it myself and am just wondering if there should be a washer on the frame where it links to the linkplate bearing(on the seat tube).

Hope this makes sense...

I dont think there was one, but it does not look quite right..

cheers,
simone

I think there is from memory. Sure I remember having 6off nylon washers on mine.

I have nylon and metal washers for the back bearings, I am just not sure what should be between the link plates and the frame. The bearing presses into the link plates and the bolt goes through into the frame.

I think the old bearing was just sitting against the frame, but this means it pushes against the seal, which is where the old bearing was worn. I looked at parts online and there seems to be nothing i have not got....

So basically, do I just screw the bolt through the bearing in the linkplate straight into the welded on bit on the seatstay?

I hope someone knows,

Cheers
Simone

Yes please, thanks!

I should have taken mine apart myself and I would have known.....

That'll teach me not to delegate!

Thanks andy146

Can you not measure the width of the seat tube where the plates attach and then the distance between the housing for the rocker plates in the seat stay, minus the width of the rockers and any spacers that may also be there!

Or you could wait and andyl46 can have a quick look 😀

There isn't any spacer on the kona frames, which are very similar, the housing on the seatpost tube is shaped to take the place of a spacer.

I think you are right kaesae, it just does not sit quite right and puts some pressure on the seal of the bearing. It's probably just a bit worn... or I am just being fussy.

Actually it is my brother in law helping me putting it back together and he is a very fussy motor engineer (yep, those do exist). I did just ask him to pop in the bearings, not re-design the thing!!! I am sure that when he is finished it will be the smoothest running g spot out there!

Cheers

I can have a look tomorrow if andy doesn't get round to it.

I don't suppose you want a custom valved Fox DHX5 coil shock for it do you? I'm selling up, will split the shock if you want it 🙂

Neil.

Cheers Neil, I got a dhx5 coil on there that is with LoCo at the moment, but if you could check that would be great. Mine is 2006 btw....

No probs 🙂

Mine is an early one, so has the different rocker, but I'm sure the bearings and everything else are the same. I'll have a look tonight when I get home from work.

The DHX transformed the bike compared to the cack 5th Elephant it came with 🙂
