I'm about to pull the trigger on a new frame and wondered if anyone had experience with the Tomac Flint 29?
Geometry wise (particularly top tube length) the Large Solaris is closer to my current 20 inch Kona Unit 2-9 so a straight forward swap over of my 90mm stem would put me in a similar riding position.
The recommended (by the Tomac website) XL Flint has a top tube 23mm longer than current so would require dropping back to a 70mm stem.
Is this shortening of the stem going to dramatically change my riding experience given overall postion would remain similar?
Thanks
Cotic Solaris is a great bike, climbs very well indeed and pretty comfy, even with an alloy post and a fairly firm saddle. Not masses of tyre clearance though. I think Matt at 18 Bikes (not the owner, the other Matt) used to have a Tomac, they also sell Cotic bikes, so might be worth giving him a shout to see what he thinks.
That should quicken up the steering for you - personally think it would improve the ride ;o)
The Solaris is designed for a shorter stem, so it might be worth going for an XL in that and a 70mm too. Worth chatting to Cotic if you're on the boarder line size-wise. I'm enjoying my Solaris, but haven't seen the Tomac.
