May I pick the collective STW brain?
I know this is pointless until I dismantle my hub and have a look, but is it possible to convert my QR rear hub to a nutted axle? I am running the wheel in a frame with horizontal dropouts and I cannot get enough tension with the QR to stop the wheel pulling backwards under braking.

It is a basic formula hub with standard spacing

Ta Andy

have you tried an XT qr? the cam is more effective than many others.

Either a proper internal cam QR. I use them on all sorts of ends including fixed wheels, or that nutted axle. check the one you have/get has the same threads as your current one. (there are variations but are not common) then just swap the cones etc over.

Are you running horizontal dropouts which face forward or track ends which face backwards. The latter are often thicker which mean that the axle needs plenty of length. Actually it can't be too long. Just chop off any spare.

I'm using track ends and I'm currently experimenting with a geared set up. My SS hub, which is nutted, never moves, so I know this system works fine.
I've ordered a threaded axle through LBS so I'll have a fiddle this week.
Cheers

Done it on several Shimano hubs, to run in sliding dropouts.
Does away with a tensioner, as you can get it much tighter thana QR.
It's a straight swap, & easy to do.
Just remember to pack a spanner. ๐Ÿ˜•

Just remember to pack a spanner

my oldest now rides a regular MTB so no problem but younger one is on a 24" wheel bike - if you have kids you only forget a spanner once!
