Ok, so I'm thinking about converting the hardtail from Shimano 3x9 to 2x10. Am I going to have to replace everything on the current set up or can I re-use some of the existing stuff? Also, any recommendations on the best ratio's to run or general pointers? Thanks.

Yes ish!!!!!!!!!

Unless your current parts are over the hill, then I wouldn't bother!

cranks should be re-usable (or is the offset different on a double to make the granny more usable?) but you'll be needing new chainrings anyway so may as well get new and sell what you have (or sell the new ones).

Ratios - I would go for the 11-36T cassette with 26/36 or 26/38.

you can re-use your front mech and left shifter but as they're so cheap, just get all new...
