[Closed] CONTINENTAL RUBBER QUEEN'S A BIT SKETCHY?

[#2655047]

After hearing loads of good stuff about Rubber Queen's, I stuck a pair on my bike and expected to agree with all said 'good stuff'. I'm finding them a bit sketchy to be honest - a few random 'skips' over roots and other small bits and pieces where the tyre just seems to change direction like someone's given the front wheel a good kick.

Anyone else think this or am I all alone in the wilderness.....????

What width did you get? I have one a 2.4 on my rear which is very good in most conditions IME

2.2's. Tried 'em with different pressures and seems to make no difference. I guess we're all different sizes, weights and have different riding styles so they may just not suit me!

and keep in mind there's black chilli rubber queens and then there's non-black chilli.

I liked them but not really for their descending properties, I was more enjoying the silly motocross climbing abilities (although not the silly motocross weight...)

I didn't like them that much but not for this reason... How much pressure are you running?

I think most of the hype they got is just because they got compared to previous conti rubber... But that's a big IMO there ๐Ÿ˜‰

I did buy the fantastically expensive Black Chilli compound. I've had 'em as low as 25psi and everything in between up to roughly 45psi.
Been running them for a couple of months so have given them a fair chance. Front tyre just randomly 'pops' off line from time to time - not good for the confidence you'll understand.

I've lost the front a few times recently with a 2.4 RQ - one leading to a heavy fall. Impossible to disentangle lack of tyre from lack of skill in my case though, so I don't know really what's to blame.
My one's over a year old - tread looks fine but maybe the compound is fatigued.

Tyres are so subjective aren't they?I'm well fussy about my rubber (ooerr) and got on well with the 2.4 black chilli run tubeless, particularly like their predictable behaviour on sketchy terrain which seems to be the opposite of your opinion.

Agree slowrider - all very subjective. Think I'll put a Minion DHF on the front for a few rides and see what happens, always had 100% faith in the DHF. They're just a bit heavy that's all.

Those silly expensive dhf's with the tougher sidewalls but still single ply folding look good, saw some in the shop and they didnt seem too heavy
