Any good suggestions for cheap, there and back in a day raving foreign day road rides.
Just had a superb day in France with some proper old boys inlcuding an ex Great Britain rider.
So I would'nt mind a few more days like that. And tbh that day was more enjoyable than any 'pay to ride' things I've done lately.
Ferry to Zeebrugge. Drive down to Oudenaarde. Park up. Ride as much of the Ronde van Vlaanderen as you wish (it's signposted). Visit the Ronde museum and be sold your ticket by Freddy Maertens (yes, really). Ferry back.
Not sure it's a true day trip, but combined with a weekend at the Gent Six Days (November), it's flippin' ace. (And, if you do it in the winter, you get a proper coating of Belgian mud, too.)
Yorkshire?
I believe that the border posts supply the obligatory chips 😉
fly to nice
then ride into town. Then go to aspremont -> levens -> up the Tinée valley then up le col de la bonette (highest road in europe) down to the other side, up to col de larche then down on the other side the up again col de la lombarde and back to town 😀
You could make things easier by renting a car and driving up to Isola village
