was uninstalling a camera uploading tool, computer wants to restart, |I do it. it wakes up and tells me it won't do anything as there is a config.sys files missing.
Am i ****ed?

Boot it up, press F8 and select "last known good configuration"
tried that - message I get is:
'windows could no start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\windows\system32\config\system
arse - I need to work tomorrow too....

Got the Windows installation cd? If you have, boot from that
Yep - do a Repair Install from your Windows CD
Had this on an XP machine yesterday. Boot Install CD, select repair OS when booted, Slect the OS you have. i.e. 1 - login with the admin details i.e. your logon unless you have an alternative admin logon/password. when logged in run at the C:/WINNT prompt chkdsk /r and it will repair the HDD while it scans for soft errors - it make take a few hours depending on your hdd size.
OK, cheers for that - don't have a booot cd as it's a work laptop, so I'll give it to the IT chap on tuesday and wait for lectures on installing spotify on work computers blah blah blah.
