Did anyone else notice the roads were quieter this morning? I had a lovely ride in and the country lanes were even more deserted than usual. Even the more main routes were surprisingly idiot free. I am really looking forward to getting out on the bike this evening.

Hot. But pleasant. But I'm lucky - 80% country lanes.

I was riding very defensively - and was absolutely fine 🙂 50% off road 🙂

Same as usual I think - maybe a little busier through Eden Park and Elmers End.

Apparently there's some football match or something this afternoon, so I'm hoping the roads will be quieter on the way home.

Love it in this weather, got off a few stops early on the train to ride an extra 7 miles on the canals. So nice being able to just ride in shorts n t, wind in your hair etc.

Absolutely flat out, was running late, feared I'd miss the train, could barely walk let alone breath by the time I got there. Felt sorry for the chap I sat next to.

Sadly, I was being given a lift by Mrs North. Nothing sad about spending time with her, just that I couldn't enjoy a ride in.

Away for the rest of the week, so I shan't be commuting again until Monday. No doubt it will be wintry and raining then....

busier for me but that was because I left late and had to go to town to pick up the car and drop something off while I was there. headwind meant that 22MPH felt slow but good to spin my legs and get a sweat on after a few jars last night. hilly 22 mile TT tonight too.

Good, but not as good as yesterday. Got a puncture which was no big deal. Tried to take it easy this morning after a mega fast ride yesterday morning. Looks like I might have some rain* on the way home.

*wet stuff, falls from the sky in case anyone has forgotten.

Finished work at 1:00am.
Set off in shorts and short sleeve jersey as it felt like a warm night, but the mist was rising off the canal, so I stopped and put my jacket on.
Took the long way home, along the canal, through the nature reserve, then a meandering route through the Wyre Forest at 2:00am.
Saw very little traffic. 😀

Lovely - 90 mins over the south downs to a deserted train station.

Thats my rationale for all rides really (unless its soaking/freezing) 🙂

The bits of my ride that were on road were noticeably quieter, I guessed a lot of people might have taken the day off for the wendyball.

Loads of police and ambulances around at one of the points on the canal towpath though where it goes down Marple lock flights and then over the aqueduct. I'm guessing someone might have drowned or jumped...

No noticeable difference in traffic this morning – the worst road I have to cross was as busy as usual, and there was another junction that’s normally pretty quiet that was also very busy. That said, I managed to belt (by my standards) into work, shaved 10 minutes off my usual time! I’m pretty fortunate with my route in, most of it is country lanes and a good chunk of bridleway. Love the summer, and the baby bunnies sproinging about.

Nice ride in, think there was a bit less traffic but my 20 mile route is largely traffic-free anyway.

More concerned about my own ability to ride the 20 miles back after the pub this afternoon, dodging happy/sad pissed drivers.

F*%king nightmare! Last night as well. People driving much closer than normal. Jumping ambers going to red. Speeding. Overtaking me just to stop at the red 100 yards further on. They've all lost a few brain cells over the last few days. I was close to physical action.
There was less traffic but I think this makes people worse drivers.

🙂 Yep quieter day on the road and beautiful weather

🙁 but a bit knackered as having to ride every day since the car engine blew up (grrrr only 35k on the clock and just out of warranty)

Today was my 2nd day of it, park the car at the outskirts of Edinburgh and a 5 mile spin into the castle. Hot but reasonably fast this morning after changing Jakes tyres for some fat slicks instead of yesterdays cross tyres.

Just as busy coz no one cares about the football up here

my commute ends at work or home, is all on road = lycra
any real ride is done in baggies and ends in the pub.

My ride in was as lovely. I used the single speed commuter for the first time in months and stayed on the canal until I reached Man City's ground. The city centre roads were as busy as ever though.

Have to second the chaos around Victoria in London this morning, I could barely move.

The south side didn't seem any quieter than usual althogh I was a bit later due to the puncture. Should be quiet at home time I expect.

Gorgeous half hour through the woods. I stopped once just because the Honeysuckle filling the air was just so fantastic.

4 minutes slower than usual today 😥
Putting it down to the cross tyres I put on last night as opposed to the big, smooth commuter tyres I usually use. Sweat more than usual too!!

The 18.5 miles to work was lovely down the S. Midlands sustrans route to Milton Keynes.

I can honestly say that I passed more cyclists than cars this morning - well, it is cycle to work day!

Phil Corley Cycles even had a stand when I arrived at work & sorted out the gears on my cross bike for free.

Can't be bad!

rig you must ride a very similar route to me I guess. I work a couple of minutes away from Corleys and ride down from Northampton.

No change to the east end either, although I managed to get out of phase with the buses which made for a faster ride

Commute was awesome this morning; didn't notice it being any quiter. However, did almost get taken out by some old couple in a mini.

Other than that it was all sweet dry and fast wooded single track; more this eveing thank you very much 😉

Mister P - were you dressed in dark grey & carrying panniers?

If so, I said 'Hello' in Hanslope.

Great ride hot and sweaty 🙂

Took an even wider line today, usually ride the line worn smooth by left hand tires today more central hoping to put a stop to the bloody chancers.

Last night someone got hit coming north up Basset Ave a33 before the round-about (Southampton) 🙁 . Didn't see it only found out it was a cyclist later, I was focused on the traffic whilst headed south. Heard they were stretchered off hope they're ok, should be no excuse for the driver it's dual carriage way and a 40 limit.

I looked out the window and saw lovely warm sunshine and heard very little traffic 😀

Trust me to have a severe throat infection and nasty flu like bug that required a trip to the quack's instead this morning. An hours wait once I got there on time as well. I wasn't sure if I was going to be cured or dead before he actually examined me...... 👿

I see the same 3 cars each morning in 8 miles me. Rain, shine, snow, hols, summer, winter etc. It is the wildlife that varies...
