[#1075645]

i'm looking at a couple of the boarman bikes, theres the cx which looks nice and i could do a bit or riding up rivi too with that, or theres the hybrid sport bikes that look good too but would obviously be limited to the road a bit more. Then theres the carbon road bike they do which looks really good value but i can't help but feel it maybe the wrong tool for the job? needs to have mudguards on but then again some of those new crud ones may fit?

The commute is 12 miles each wway to work on a farely flat route, what do we think would be best?

A good quality road bike I would get something cheapish to see if you can hack roadie miles first.

On the carbon one you will be expected to ride like the wind or be all the gear and no idea!
How tall are you may have a roadie bike you can borrow to see if you are man enough!
Never tried CX personally so no opinion on that option - wil le-mail you re post as aI could not find it last night to confirm what it was

Neil, going from a full carbon Ransom to a Halfrauds bike, gosh times must be hard........ ๐Ÿ˜‰

Have you signed up for the Kielder 100 yet?

if it's for commuting I'd look for;

rack mounts - more flexible than trying to carry everything on your back

clearance for full mydguards - it's miserable ridign along with wet feet, a wet bum and a face full or spray.

i'm just under 6ft. the carbon one is very nice but i'm not totally sure whether i could get mudguards on, and i will NEED mudguards. the CX bike looks the most fun as i'd like to have the option of nipping down the leeds-liverpool canal. But the hybrid i went to see last night was very nice, 20lbs and looked a bit more out stretched than your normal sit-up-and-beg type hybrid, but i think my commute is a little too far for a hybrid?

i'm only doing it three days a week at the minute ๐Ÿ˜€

Ditto the full guards & rack eyes for commuting.
Hot summer commutes with a sizeable rucksack are no fun.
