[#1741431]

So, me and a few others are doing the Coast To Coast tomorrow. One day, no messing. I've got all the gels I need, money, extra little samples of minty arse lard, a tube of Nuun. anything else I need?

yes, I've got my bike....

Let us know how you get on.

We're doing it next month, Whitehaven to Sunderland on the 24th July.

Why i agreed to spend my birthday pedalling across England i'll never know... 😆

Good Luck.

We got back earlier in the week, after doing Wainrights, St Bees to Robin Hoods, in 4.5 days.

You wont need anything special. Just keep eating and drinking, and just dont stop too long for lunch or you might seize up.

I tried Woodcocks St.Bees to RHB a few months back, got to Richmond in 20 hrs and my stomach turned itself inside out!! Road should be ok though. Plenty of ass cream.

Its really busy route at the moment, there were loads of coasties in Keswick today,It always amazes me how people ride with low saddle heights, using there heels to pedal, and usually have a soft rear tyre!! 🙄

Have a good one warton,my advice would be stay off the a66 and a686 there very busy roads, and the cycle paths and back roads are much safer. 😉

Are you coming along the Hadrians way one or the Sus-trans.

Hadrians Way is off road from Prudhoe to Tynemouth, nice way to finish it really.

You weren't heading to the start by train out of Manchester yesterday were you?
MrsMM was commuting with her bike, got talking to 3 blokes (with bikes..) heading off to do the coast to coast...

Either way - best of British!

finished! bus from newcastle was an hour late, so didn't get started till 11. first bit up to whinlatter was lovely, then the sun got hot... whinlatter climb was OK, through Keswick was fine (kept to the cycle paths on A66, and swooned at the TT bikes going up and down, one had a proper dinner plate front ring, into keswick, bit of repairs, then I died a death up to and over Hartside. terrible, but got there had some food and a coke and the final 65 miles were brilliant, all the lads were having a laugh, speed was high, riding together, sun shining, and it turned into one of those unforgettable days!

all in all 130 miles, 8 hours in the saddle, 11 overall with stops, don't know the route we did, I just peddle!
