Hi. Mtb er going all enduro and not wanting to ride with a backpack.

I am looking for as small a co2 inflator as possible, doesnt need a pressure gauge but one that can sit on a cannister all the time without leaking.

Anyone any recommendations?

I just got mine off eBay. cheap as chips. No silly buttons or knobs so small. Screw in the canister, push onto valve and you're done. Used it loads of times with no issues and it's still going strong. No point in spending any more on more complicated and branded ones. I tend not to connect the canister all the time....to inflate a big volume 29er you're looking at two cannisters so leave them loose.

I've got a Topeak one that screws onto the gas canister but doesn't pierce it until you're ready to use it. Only used it once in anger but it worked well. But as above, you don't need to leave it attached really.
