Simple fact is it should have been delivered to 27 as it exists (I may post a photo) and royal mail tried to deliver to #4.

Seller was very generous to refund immediately and I expected him to get a refund (it has to be him claiming for refund, I can't).

Through this I learn no luck and hope he will contact me so we can sort it out.

At the end of the day, royal mail agree there is a claim and its just taking time.

How could I fiddle royal mail system to make it look like its in Belfast? (I don't work for royal mail).

So you made a mistake and expect the seller to take the hit.

That's the kick in the balls, right there.

Hopefully RM will refund the OP, tho.

I pay him back and he claims refund as well?

If he can't claim then we will sort out paying back but he can claim.

Why should either of us pay when the tossers at royal mail failed?

The fact is if you had put the correct address it may have been attempted delivery there, and the OP would have had proof he posted his parcel to the correct address

As it is he's posted it to the wrong address through no fault of his own, lost his parcel and is 70 quid of pocket, all through your own mistake

Very very harsh on the OP

You made a mistake and I did too. I purposely didn't mention you here as I was after "collective" idea on what I should do to try and recoup some of my costs. It may very well be RM speaking out of their bottoms. Sorry you've been dragged into this on STW...wasn't my intention.

Hopefully I can start to sort it out after 25 Sept.

I for one would love to know what RM do with all their unclaimed parcels! Wouldn't feel so bad if they auctioned everything off and it goes to charity...rather than the cynical alternative of it being nicked.

Regardless of incorrect addresses etc

RM failed to deliver so need to return the package or compensate
Just because they failed to find no 27 doesn't mean their responsibility ends.

They need to either prove it was delivered to 27 or pay up for its loss.

If royal mail won't pay I should take the hit but they admit mistake and he can claim refund.

If this wasn't the case I would pay due to putting 27.

Why attempt delivery to #4 when it says 27 and it exists as you can see above.

Anyway, email rob so if royal mail refuse to pay I will refund him.

Freedom of information research shows that the Royal Mail is making an increasing sum of money by selling these goods at auction, amounting to nearly £1m last year.

Over the past six years the postal service has more than doubled the income it generates in this way, from £432,000 in 2005/06 to £933,000 in 2010/11.

Buyer pays back the money as he gave the wrong address, seller claims off RM and if successful he pays buyer back although you'll only get £50 as that's the max if not insured for extra.

Seems a best solution to me.

Another point is it had a return label, which 'fell off'.

Anyway, that's my name through the mud and will take this offline with rob. Which will be refund back to him if required.

Good call, drac. I will refund him now and when claim comes through he can pay whatever he gets to me.

My name and reputation is more important to me than the cost.

I can wait without public flogging.

Thanks

Very good of you to do so.

I can wait without public flogging.

They love a pitchforks mob on here without finding out both sides of the story.

I would google street map the address and tell Royal Mail they don't know their arse from their elbow if there is a 27.
And if something is wrongly addressed does not mean they can lose it.

*stabs Drac in the arse with a pitchfork*

Anyway. I don't really think this is the usual STW pitchfork session, just several mistakes by different parties has created a bit of a weird situation. Hopefully it's all sorted for all parties.

Jdavidge very honourable of you sir to refund

Work together and get rm to sort pit and pester the hell out of them

It's just a shame as if he'd posted to your house he could easily refund you as you can both say it's been addressed to you but not arrived....however with wrong address from day one it changes everything as nobody can prove now what's happened your relying on neighbours telling the truth and it's all of a bit of a hazy problem, If the address was right it would have been. A simple refund and claim , but it's one of those things I do hope you get it sorted you've certainly put your name right by refunding in my eyes, I hope you get it sorted bud
