I rather fancy a cielo sportif but however I look at it I cannot justify the price for the frame alone. What alternatives are there?
Or should I take the geo to a frame builder and get them to build something similar for a bit less cost?
I do quite fancy a custom as it is 30th birthday treat though local shop is trying to tempt me with an off the peg offering.
Any ideas for alternatives?
TBH, that's a lot of money.
It's a nice frame and fork, but a lot of money for what is essentially the same thing that the world and his wife were riding about on 20 or so years ago.
Custom...I'm never convinced by it, unless you are a really odd shape there seems little point in paying more for a frame which has adjustable bits everywhere..
I'd go to a builder, but buy off the peg, use the money saved to get good kit, wheels, etc.
If you're after a classically styled nice riding general road bike the Singular Osprey is coming shortly!
I'm toying with the idea of one of Enigma Elite's And if you want custom it only cost £80 extra.
Those are nice looking bikes Sam. WHy did you decide against a 1 1/8" headset? And can they be got in blue?

Because I wanted to have a classic looking lugged road bike with slim tubing, lugs for the diameter of top and down tubes I used are only available for 1" sized headtubes. Plus you can only get quill stems these days in 1" (unless you look reeeeally hard) and I wanted to have that option.
And can they be got in blue?
They are cream with blue panels, custom paint is a possibility though at a fairly significant up-charge.
