Hi all,

I've got a CM (29") on the front, and have done all summer. I'm wondering about its general mud performance and your experiences with it.

I had a high roller (29x2.1) on front last winter which was very good in mud but proved too skinny for the Peaks.

Is there a tyre you'd replace the CM with during winter?

Thanks.

works well in mud. pretty flawless tyre really, given the price.

Works very well in mud, however as it's so big, I find it clogs with my mashguard in really slow sticky mud. Apart from that it gives loads of grip.

Or an alternative view; I find it 'skates' over mud and has been changed for a Minion.

Is it instant death running one on the back?
Want a great big tyre on the back for comfort.

I would say it is very good when you get that thin film of mud on top of trail centre surface like at the Chase but in proper mud and loam DHF or DHR II work better.

EDIT

I have ran CM front and back the drag is noticeable and I prefer to have a gripper front tyre than back.

CM is a very easy to live with, predictable tyre.

No good in deep loam/mud as it clogs and turns into a semi slick.

Excellent in all other conditions tho.

In thick heavy mud the tread is way too shallow to cope. Schwalbe Magic Mary is far better but is a little more expensive if you shop German.

Sorry to hijack the thread but can you run a chunky monkey tubeless?

26er in plain version tried to dump me on my arse a number of times when used up front. riding trail centres and local spot which is loam over flint cap. haven't tried the sticky one.
fine on the rear and went up tubeless easy.
