Special extended edition this week covering the whole holiday week ahead if you want to add on.
I shall be out local tonight, hard paths, canals and parks as the local tech will be a muddy soup. I am however attempting to negotiate a morning off in the week for some White Peak rocky riding. We do have a 7 month old so perhaps I shouldn’t be optimistic, there’ll be plenty of opportunities in the future.

The weather looks great for most of the country for the holiday period. I just had a shufty and the big day itself looks to be warmer than seasonal average with 10-13 degrees in most places, followed by Mon, Tue and Weds looking fairly dry with sunshine! in most places, Tuesday in particular looks great for clear skies and sunshine.

If you’re out on Xmas day consider yourself v lucky. What have you got planned?

Probably some dawn rides. Not hosting this year, so maybe a sneaky daytime Christmas day ride too. Hosted last year and got a dawn ride in, but that was there for the taking as I was up at silly early o'clock to put the turkey in.

Loop round Hope, Derwent and Hathersage tomorrow. Boxing Day morning will prob be a local Macc Forest loop whilst Mrs Carlos goes running, repeat on 27th but might head to The Goyt or Gradbach, then off to Llangollen on the 28th for the day. Not out till the 31st after that, which will be a bit weather dependant but hoping for a day in The Lakes.

Carlos

Planning a road jaunt from Rossendale to Sheffield, if Babs isn't too violent.

out cycling last night in the cold I happened upon a pair of large ladies. In a housing estate about a mile from town, one was sat in the road. I thought she had taken ill or fallen and stopped immediately to see if I could help. Turns out they were just pissed! i asked if everything was all right and the one stood up answers 'she's sat down and she won't get up!' I looked down upon this poor drunken wench, sat akimbo upon the kerb. and I wept for the state of humanity. she looked up at me and as I watched she farted and exclaimed a sigh of relief, then slobbered at me 'I'm sitting down and I won't get up' .. I made my exit sharpish.

Fun in lustleigh cleave on east dartmoor on Christmas Eve Eve

And then managed to get out late this afternoon for a quick buzz onto the western moors from the door for an epic sunset.

After riding local yesterday we thought we would do Cutgate before we set of to Scotland over the New Year.
Minus four when we left home with plenty of frost about. Didn't see any other bikes but plenty of walkers out.

Trail was hard on top with plenty of ice about, only a few boggy areas but North America is a mess in places ang getting very wide.

I managed to get out for the first time since June this morning for a 10mile loop round Wakefield. Was a bit cold, infact so cold I had frost on my hair and the hose for my hydration pack got a bit iced up but it was worth it.

Mr Pea and I went for a ride round Hope on Boxing Day- it was bonkers windy on the tops!
Yesterday we took my eldest son out for 2 hours or so round Disley- sunny, with lots of mud and a bit of ice.

First ride in a few weeks yesterday at 'degla. Beautiful conditions round the black once away from the patches of ice on the open top section.

Out for a local ride tomorrow with the club and three other local groups, then my traditional solo New Year's Eve and New Year's Day rides to look forward to. Will have ridden more this week than in the last couple of months...

Apologies if I have posted some of these before and also for not having the photographic skills of all those above...

Christmas eve started with a pleasant 42km spin, half solo then I met up with a buddy for some relaxed trail riding.
[img] [/img]
[img] [/img]

Christmas day was meant to be a couple of us going for a relaxed spin but turned into a bit of a fast passed trek with a bigger group, hard work and my legs were feeling the 50km of riding, I needed that Christmas pud.
[img] [/img]

The day after boxing day was shuttling morning, managed to get a fair few DH runs in before having to leave early.
[img] [/img]

Managed a sneaky Tigers Head run yesterday which should be the last of the year until the New Years Day ride.
[img] [/img]
[img] [/img]
Been incredibly lucky weather wise, chilly but perfect for riding and no rain...so far!

All in all a jolly riding Christmas.

Ohh, all we could hear at 8am this morning was shipping fog horns. All we could think about was "where's the sand bar?" & "can I hear any waves breaking?" The answer to the first question was answered after a very very ethereal paddle across glassy waters, the answer to the second was 2fters l'do..
