MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Come on, there must be some!?
Just finished this little one off, bit grotty when I bought it but I'm still at well under the cost of a Toys R' Us BSO... Junior has had 2 frog bikes already, this year he's getting upgraded to 20" wheels and - drumroll - gears! Chain, casette, brakes and cables all round and a good clean, its a lovely little thing. Certainly compared to the absolute junk skip bikes I used to ride as a kid!
(and of course, the previous one, 18" Frog 43, I'll be able to sell for basically exactly what it cost me a year or so ago).Â
The biggest chunkiest tyres I dared to fit, makes all the difference I've found for riding off road, 10psi is plenty here. Hopefully the bigger wheels and having gears will let us push onto some bigger distances in the coming spring.
Lets see what Santa is bringing...
That doesn't look a million miles from MiniMonkey's Vitus 20 which she's just about growing out of now. Reckon you'll see a huge difference now though - since we got it she regularly does 10kish moderately hilly routes no problem. Even if she doesn't change gears much.Â
She's not getting a new one for Christmas though. There's a very nice Orbea Laufey 24 sat in the shed for her birthday in February...Â
Well, not a complete bike - yet. My eldest has been after something a bit more rugged for a while, so he's getting a Saracen Myst frame for Christmas and we'll build the rest up over the next couple of months. That's not an issue as he's currently off the bike with a broken arm (from an otb!) so the timing will work out about right, and there's also a bit of family politics involved as the frame will work out about the same price as his brother's present.
My 7 year old was meant to be getting an early rider seeker 24". Youngest (4 5/6) is to get his vitus 20+ but may require a shorter stem and may be a fraction to small yet.Â
The seeker 24 will be a lesson in bike building as I fully intend to only let him get it once we've built it together (father and son arguments inbound). I redid the wheel bearings but we can set up the mech, cut cables install new bars...Â
