Morning all
Has anyone got any experience with buying a carbon seat post from China via ebay/alibaba? I any places to recommend or avoid?
Hi,
Had carbon posts from Merek bike which was rather roady looking very light but in the end i over torqued the saddle fixings causing the carbon post head to crack, it used a two bolt clamp system. It served me over a year and a half I think. I also have Merek bars and stem which have been problem free. I also bought another carbon post from an English retailer which probably came from China but i can't remember the name. It had a one bolt seat clamp system with grooves to hold the saddle at the angle you needed. Unfortunately at 13 stone these carbon grooves rounded out after a few outtings on the MTB, I eventually diy re-cut the grooves and resin glued the seat angle adjuster to the main post. its been problem free since, even through race season!!!Torque wrench is needed for carbon bits tho!
Avoid the lookalike posts, they seem OK but are copies as a primary function, seat posts as a secondary.
