[Closed] Cheap Square-taper Road crank options?

I'm considering changing the shite "Power spline" efforts on my commuter road bike for something else better wearing/longer lasting. the BB is shagged and the rings need replacing so a whole new chainset probably works out </= the cost of replacing the worn parts (~£50 or less ideally).

Plus I'd prefer 170mm arms rather than the 175s I currently have... I'm thinking that something Square taper should be pretty cheap and a the BB should last better than the previous one at a relatively low price...

So a couple of quick questions;

1) what sensibly priced Square taper doubles chainsets are there about for 9 spd (Standard or compact)?

2) What length BB axle should I be using (for a 130mm rear spaced frame)? (please say 110mm as I've got a spare 110mm UN52 in the garage...)

Anyone?

Bottom bracket axle length is specific to the chainset not the frame.

You want a Stronglight impact or XD2 double with dural rings from Spa Cycles for £50 and a Stronglight JP400 107mm bottom bracket (with plastic cup) for £10 (or you could try your 110 to see if it works/the chainline is ok).

For disclosure purposes I do work at Spa but I am answering the OP and it's not like I promote the business on here all the time.

As above. I have a Stronglight Impact from Spa and it's great. The chainrings shift very well & you have every option under the sun for crank length and ring sizes. They're light too.

I run mine with a Shimano UN54 BB, but the Stronglight JP400 has a great reputation too.

Service from Spa was excellent (I've used them for new rings for another chainset too, great both times).

I bought some of those from SPA - good cranks and good service
