Can anyone spot any bargains out there or give me an idea? For a DIY wheelbuild to replace my worn out Deores (serviced/cleaned many many times!) on my commuter.

Disc compatible, 28 or 32 holes would be fine. Even old Hope sports seem to go for a fair bit on eBay, and while I can find tonnes of cheap hubs on clearance sections of shops, there always blimmin Shimanos!

No fancy axle options needed, C-lock or 6 bolt, 135mm rear.

Yeh, I've been looking at those Novatec plus A2Z hubs on ebay, bit of a bargain for ~ £120 pair and pretty light too.

There are a number of Novatecs on eBay. I've had two sets, the latest ones are running on my Tripster and have done some good miles. The more expensive ones are light - lighter than Hope, I think (as a benchmark) and come in at sub £90 posted - with skewers. Have a look at these - from the shop I've bought from in the past too.
