There a metric bumload of off-the-peg fixies around. For something a bit trick like the freestyle why not just convert an old road bike. Podercoat your own colour, choose your parts and likely come up cheaper than the freestyle with higher quality parts.

Also means if you havent tried fixed before you can convert an old roadie cheap before tidying it up! Thats what i did. Bought someone elses cheap conversion of ebay.

That said i do like the plug.

Yeah that was the original plan but her work is now doing the c2c scheme so thought we'd take advantage....

I reckon the surly steamroller is the best of the bunch.... as the heart of a fixie is frame and hubs (like most bikes) and you get a great frame and super tough hubs on the surly. The creamroller also looks cool.

I found this thread offered lots of useful alternatives when I was contemplating the Charge Plug Grinder

I ended up converting an old British Eagle though - it's ace, cos I kept the freewheel on it and gave it some brakes ๐Ÿ™‚

Whippersnapper you are a legend cheers! HOWEVER, you've now made the decision very difficult (painful for me!)

Common as muck now. Do a bit of digging and find something else, then put the brown seat and bar tape on (this seems to be its main selling point)

I've got a standard plug in blue and love it. Just what i want. Has she actually seen the freestyler in real life. super narrow bars and only 1 finger brakes - not great for day to day use i don't think.
