Are you sure thats in pools? I dont see no monkeys hanging in the picture...

Give us a link on Google maps and I might have a ride up there one day!

Ah yeah, I know it.. I often ride the old railway track from Wynyard - station town - hartlepool route over the warmer months.

I've not actually been in the old works though for fear of the sand melting my tyres..

It's not that bad - although we did find a tar pit which swallowed everything we threw into it, including a 4' x 6' bit of ply....

I found the site about seven or eight years ago, cycling the coast path from Sunderland to Hartlepool. It's almost all flattened now - it was still a going concern back then.

I remember passing it on the train years ago when it was still in action, yet another dead NE chemical business.

can you actually ride the coast path all the way from Sunderland to there? I was going to ride down teh coast path last time I rode up to south shields but it looked like it ended so I didnt want to ride so far down and find a dead end.
