Used the last of my Muc Off CC yesterday. I like it cause it smells nice but don't think its cream properties were any better or worse than the Assos that it replaced. This seems to be the last thread on the subject

https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/chamois-cream-1/

Are there any newcomers to the market? Any cheap deals? Any reason not to buy Singletrack own brand and support our mag?

thanks (and sorry if i have missed a more recent thread)

I quite like Waitrose own brand baby bum butter. It's basically made of olive oil (I think). It's super cheap and does a pretty good job in the anti chaffing dept.

Mrs. S. is currently using BeElite (half price at Wiggle) which seems pretty good. A bit more solid than Assos.

Nope. It's not expensive compared to the regular players and it works. Plus you're supporting here for no extra outlay, win-win!

notwithstanding the 'support STW' aspect of their own brand stuff, I've tried all sorts over the years and apart from one (Udderly Smooth where I think they changed a preservative and it gave me a rash) they're all much of a muchness IMHO.

It's one of those things I wouldn't go without, much better than a dry frotting, but at the same time £10 or more for a small tub seems mad.

Then someone on here suggested Ovelle aqueous cream from the supermarket or chemists at £3 for a massive tub of 500ml, and I no longer feel like I have to scrimp on it.

Assos. Used it for years. I’ve used CTBM bottom butter in the small tubs if away for some bikepacking without issue

Yeah, right! Did your missus believe that the rash on your undercarriage was caused by the chamois cream?

it was particularly sore on the Japanese Flag, which when you're 25 miles from home when it manifested goes down as one of those 'memorable but for the wrong reason' rides.

charlie's happy bottom bum butter is the best stuff i've used, seems more a balm than a cream so lasts longer, rather than just sinking in like regular creams. a little goes a long way, half a tub got me 1800miles down the great divide route
